We're home from another exciting Comic-Con, charged with new ideas that will get Nocturnal Essence back in production. Right now we're working out the details for a new direction, including a stronger introduction to the characters. In he coming weeks we'll be announcing a new artist, finally uploading subscriber content, and giving you fun little insights into the life of Danielle outside of the comic. Hope to see you there.

It's almost surreal how much is happening right now. If the biggest change isn't obvious to you yet, hold down shift and click refresh. The plan was to wait on announcing the Veil until we were farther along in production, but the buzz got kicked off faster than expected. So here it is! Our third title. Enjoy. :)
Okay what else... new creative teams are in place and working hard on the next issue of Redshift and Nocturnal Essence. Not much more to say on that front, except to keep us bookmarked for updated pages every week.
February 12, 2007
I was finally inspired to add the cast bios for Nocturnal Essence. Redshift will come eventually, once I get more artwork to spotlight the characters.
Some things about the sight design were getting on my nerves, so I tweaked a few things here and there. The blogs are now just on the comic pages. The feature spotlight section was lame, so I tossed it. The updates are more readable, and I figured listing our con schedule would be nice.
Speaking of blogs, I have Metaversal Translator mirrored on Blogspot.com. It's set up a little more like a "real" blog, so feel free to link to it if you want to just track the general updates about the company and my nerdy entertainment reviews.
I still do not know if we'll have anything new to sell, but we will definitely be at Inter-Fan Jam in any event. If you're from the midwest area and you have a Saturday to kill, stop by and say hi.

I found a few links that were broken. I also found out that our archives were a little wonky because of how Webcomicsnation designs their installments.
Actually it's not all their fault. They didn't count on me going crazy with iframes.
But everything should not be ratcheted up now. We also added an advertising network. And all of our vote buttons are now up to date. Let the shameless promotion begin.

The official press release is in our blog, and a bunch of message boards, and on the few web sites gracious enough to run it.
We are back. You already know about Nocturnal Essence, which will pick up right where it left off. Metadawn is on an indefinite hiatus, but we have an exciting new title in its place.
REDSHIFT is a high action space opera that mixes classic staples of the genre with elements of Hong Kong cinema. The story follows the collision of fate that pulls a band of unlikely heroes together in a chaotic galaxy trying to keep itself together.
Both titles update twice weekly. Subscribers get extra stuff like FULL downloadable issues (when they are done), Redshift in COLOR and bonus STORIES that give you a lot of inside info on Nocturn society.

In preparation for what I hope to be a flood of new hits from our interview at
Chicago City Arts, I spruced up the site to make navigation a little friendlier. At this point not everything looks pretty, but it's
mostly all there.
In other news... We are definitely going to be at Wizard World Chicago in August. I have learned the fine art of pre-press and
will have files sent to the printers soon for both titles to go on sale. If you want to claim yours ahead of time,
let me know! We'll have them in the store when I get them back from the printer.
December 18, 2005
Monday for Metadawn and Wednesday for Nocturnal Essence is now our official release schedule for the web comic. The
schedule for printed edition and merchandise is as up in the air as always.
New stories begin on Monday. They will mark issue 2 of Nocturnal Essence and issue 1.1 (that's volume 1, chapter 1) of
Metadawn. Mariano stayed on board for Metadawn, though who the inker will be for the second half of the story in 2006 is unclear.
We'll have rotating art in Nocturnal Essence, with Nicola Scott and Andy Price splitting pencils. Inking detail
also rotates between Kanila Tripp, Mike Devine, and Andy Price. The production of this issue was... an interesting experience.
Friends of PowerfulPress.com will find new banners. You can find them in a pop-up window off our
links page. At present we have banners and towers. Different size blocks, including 88x30 chits and forum avatar icons are also
on the agenda. Keep an eye on the blogs for updates.
September 18, 2005
Until we have an artist secured for work beyond issue 1.1, Metadawn is going to a weekly release schedule on Wednesdays.
We shifted Nocturnal Essence to Monday and Friday because it just made more sense.
Please join us in welcoming Andy Price to the talent lineup. He has a bio up on our
Crew Page and we'll be putting up some sample art in the gallery soon. His pages will hit the Nocturnal Essence web
comic in November.
Hope you like the pretty new Nocturnal Essence front page graphic, too. Colors are compliments of Garry Henderson, whom we
hope to have working for us more often in the future. Stay tuned for more on that.

As part of our transition to a web-comic, I've added blogs. Metaversal Translator (aka Lance's blog)
and Musings in the Dark (aka Dani's blog) will be updated on the same day as their respective titles. The comic
pages will still mostly speak for themselves, so check the blog for general updates about us, the company, and life in
general.
We'll keep more formal announcements here in the News headlines and What's New page. It is our sincere hope to get our
forums a little more active, too. I can see from the hits, SOMEONE out there is reading our comic besides my co-workers.
Stop by and give us a holler.

The major update we've been promising fans is here! Web Comics Nation is finally in public beta. Follow the "Read Our
Comics Online" link in the menu to witness the new direction of Powerful Press. What you see is pretty much what you'll
get. Most of the changes by this point are cosmetic. Well... almost. We'll publish in both HTML and Flash pages.
There's still a lot that needs to be done. We're working harder than ever to wrap up production on the next issue for both
titles and get cranking on issue #3 of Nocturnal Essence and issue #1.2 of Metadawn. Our goal is to roll out
5 new pages every Wednesday once the site goes 100% live. On our budget, that will make each title effectively bi-monthly for now.
We will still print comics, chapter issues (can't technically call them monthlies) and trade paperbacks. Stay tuned for
more announcements on that front.
February 16, 2005
Powerful Press would like to welcome Andy Price to our crew! I've been running across Andy's table at every con for the
last 5 years now, and finally decided to say hi. The man's work is amazing.
Our search for an artist has been trying
to say the least. But every now and then we manage to find a guy who stands so far above the crowd that we're amazed he's
not working for the one of the Big Publishers (tm). He'll be doing covers, pin-ups, and backup stories for Nocturnal
Essence. Welcome aboard, Andy.
December 8, 2004
Nocturnal Essence will be shipping through Diamond this month. Look for it on shelves in the coming weeks.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel Metadawn due to mismanagement by our printing service. Look forward to seeing
our books printed by a new on-demand printer and online distributer when we're able to put out our
next set of issues.

Miss us? We're back. And with a brand new facelift. Powerful Press is signed up with
Integrated Web Solutions, owned and
operated by an old friend from college, John Schwarberg, interestingly enough, to overhaul the website from top to
bottom. We're incredibly pleased with the results and look forward to working with him and his company for
many updates to come.
What else has been going on in the year and a half since my last update? Erm... long story. It's best if we
stay focused on the future. Metadawn and Nocturnal Essence are both on sale now!

I just got back home from Motor City Con Sunday night. Getting out of Chicago was a
nightmare, but I somehow got home in less than 4 and a half hours.
Even though I had to work another con by myself, I had a lot of fun and met a lot of great
people. Shooting Star Comics
and Powerful Press both got a lot of great exposure and positive reactions. Everyone is
drooling over Mariano's art, which is no huge surprise but still inspiring. I managed to get
away from the table for some autograph hunting and "window shopping". I put up a bunch of
photos for you to take a gander at.
Regular visitors may have noticed the facelift in the
Store, and more importantly, in the Gallery. Look
for more on that in our next update.

There will soon be a press release letting the whole world know that
Shooting Star Comics Anthology #2 will be out
for pre-orders in July. Look for us at San Diego and Wizard World: Chicago. We will have a
slew of pros who helped us get SSCA off the ground signing at our booth. Guests and times TBA.
I gotta apologize for not reporting on the Chicago Comicfest. While the crowd was a little
thin due to it being the record coldest March the Windy City has seen in years, I had a lot of
fun. Got to shmooze with some fellow small press creators. I especially want to thank the
guys at Webb Comics, Tracy and Matt for insight and some great leads. They've got some great
work showcased at their website (with the coolest name I've ever heard):

The Gurnee Con was a good time and we received a good reaction to Shooting Star and Metadawn.
We'll definitly try to hit more of those small local cons.
It's neat meeting with retailers and fans in a setting where you don't feel rushed. For a
listing of conventions near you, check out
www.comicbookconventions.com.
We are very pleased with the initial orders for
Shooting Star Comics Anthology #1. We thought we were going to hit the streets
3 weeks earlier than Diamond listed us, but it all worked out in a roundabout way. Look for us
in stores on December 26th! If you have problems getting your hands on a copy, you can also
now find us in the FM International catalog.
We have several proposals out there in Publisherland. Mariano is hard at work with
Metadawn #1 and will soon turn his attention toward a new 8 page
script for Shooting Star Comics Anthology #2.
And last but certainly not least, I've FINALLY updated the gallery. It has a new layout so
you can see what characters belong to what titles. We have more of Mariano's art on there and
you'll notice we have a couple more characters in there.
And you can finally see some of the work of what we hope to be our new inker on future projects,
Ethan Colchamiro, aka Eman from Dixonverse.

After much wrestling with red tape,
Shooting Star Comics Anthology #1 is finally in Previews. We'll be in your direct market
stores on December 4th, so bug the hell outta your shop owners.
August 10, 2002
Shooting Star Comics Anthology #1 has been
shipped. Pre-Orders are being filled and the comic will be available for sale online for a
limited time. Be the first to grab the debut of these hot new Shooting Stars.
Working with Mariano de la Torre has been fantasic. There're few things more exciting for an aspiring writer than to see something you created come to life. But to have your first published story rendered by a talent of his calibre is thrilling beyond words.
Mariano's enthusiasm for this project at times even surpased my own. He threw himself completely into the story, happily grabbing the chance to share his love for drawing power armor and sci-fi tech.
Working with his "editor" soley through email and AIM from his home in Catalonia, this man captured everything I wanted out of the script and more. You could hear metal breaking wood before a single letter was put to the page.
And for Mariano himself, "It's been a great experience to participate in such an enthusiastic effort!"
This guy's going to put us on the map.
December 20, 2001
We are proud to welcome
Mariano de la Torre to the Powerful Press family. I can't tell you how excited we are
to be working with someone who has this combination of talent, drive, and love of the medium.
We are all hoping this will be a very long term, prosperous relationship.
You may notice the sheriff's stars scattered all over the place. The Buzz Begins!
Powerful Press is working with a whole Posse of independent creators, bringing you a
new anthology to showcase everything that we think comics are all about. Keep
tabs on that website as we tell you more about this exciting project.
